On Sunday 1st November 2026 at 6.30pm, St Edmund's Church will hold In Loving Memory, a gentle service offering a chance to remember those we love but have lost.
Grief touches all of us at some point, and it rarely follows a timetable. Whether your loss is recent or many years ago, whether you come to church regularly or have never been before, you are warmly invited to join us for this quiet and reflective evening. Falling at the time of year when the church traditionally remembers the saints and the faithful departed, it is a moment to pause, give thanks for the lives of those who meant so much to us, and hold them in our hearts together.
During the service, names of loved ones will be read aloud and there will be an opportunity for candles to be lit. Many people find there is real comfort in hearing a name spoken and in seeing a small flame shine in their memory, surrounded by others who understand something of what they are carrying.
If you would like a name to be read out but are unable to come, please email Revd Sarah, who will be glad to include them.
After the service, refreshments will be served, and you are very welcome to stay, share a cup of tea and spend some time in company. There is no pressure to talk, but there will always be a friendly face if you would like to.
