As part of the Churchyard Biodiversity and Heritage Project, we're inviting you to spend a relaxed summer evening in St Edmund's churchyard, slowing down, noticing the wildlife around you and capturing it in your own nature journal.
Nature journalling is a simple and gentle way to connect with the natural world. It might mean sketching a wildflower, jotting down the birdsong you hear, noting the colours of the evening light or writing a few thoughts about what you see. There's no right or wrong way to do it and you certainly don't need to be an artist. It's about taking time to look closely, be creative and appreciate the beauty on our doorstep.

Our churchyard is a wonderful place for this. Its grassland, trees, old walls and headstones are home to a surprising variety of plants, insects and birds, and a warm June evening is the perfect time to enjoy them.
